Environmental Awareness Training organized by Marmara University Administrative and Financial Affairs Department Zero Waste Coordination Unit was held on Wednesday, May 29, Göztepe Campus Dr. It took place at İbrahim Üzümcü Conference Hall.
The aim of the training, organized together with the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and Marmara University Personnel Department In-Service Training Coordinatorship, was to increase staff awareness about the environment and nature. In the opening speech of the program, Marmara University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt stated that the zero waste movement is a very important step for a sustainable future. Prof. Kurt said, “We can contribute to our environment and the Zero Waste Movement with simple steps such as recycling, saving energy, and choosing sustainable transportation methods by adopting environmentally friendly habits in our daily lives. "As Marmara University, we joined the Zero Waste Movement as of 2019 and created our zero waste management system in accordance with the zero waste regulation." he said.
After the opening speech, Istanbul Provincial Environmental Directorate Environmental Engineer Aslıhan Hıdıroğlu Öncel made the Environmental Awareness Training presentation. In her presentation, Aslıhan Hıdıroğlu Öncel discussed the topics of zero waste management, carbon use and waste management hierarchy. The training ended after the presentation.
