Bicycle-Sharing System

Within the scope of the protocol signed between the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate of the Ministry of Health and Marmara University for the purpose of "Developing Physical Activity Opportunities", a "Shared Bicycle Area" was created. In the project developed within the scope of this protocol, bicycles were offered to the service of students, faculty members and administrative staff with the organization of Marmara University Health, Culture and Sports Department. The bicycles, which will increase in number in the later stages of the project, can also be used on various campuses of our university. Bicycles can be purchased with a university ID and a filled form. The bicycles, which can be used on campus after being purchased, will be used both for healthy living and transportation. Within the scope of the project, students, faculty members and administrative staff as well as campus security officers started to use the 3 bicycles allocated to them on campus.

Bicycle Club
Our club organizes activities such as informing students who are enthusiastic about cycling, introducing cycling, creating opportunities to start cycling, organizing trips, tours and competitions with club members, and establishing teams that will participate in races on behalf of the university. Our organizations are related to cycling and are completely focused on developing our social side, creating awareness about cycling and the environment, and entertainment. Our cycling club organizes many cycling tour events.

Film Screenings: We organize documentaries or movies related to cycling.

Trainings: Our trainings, primarily basic bicycle training, practical repair and maintenance training and bicycle camping trainings, are focused on developing the general culture of the participants about cycling and teaching them by applying them to the participants.

Student Successes
Our Mechatronic Engineering student Mehmet ERKEN became the Turkish Champion in the time trial discipline in the U23 Category in the Turkish Cycling Championship. After the 1-week camp period in Kayseri, he also took part in our National Team that participated in the 3-day international race held in Beni Mellal, Morocco.

Sustainable Vehicles
Personal vehicle use has been reduced to provide more sustainable transportation for staff. Electric scooters are available for rent around the campus. There are also electric vehicles available for use on campus. This provides both sustainable transportation and a reduction in carbon emissions.

Student Successes

As the Mechatronics Engineering Club, with the intense effort and hard work of our students, the construction of the GÖKTÜRK Electric Vehicle has been completed.
