Cultural Heritage

Marmara University prioritizes preserving cultural heritage through vocal arts and local dances. In this context, many faculties on campus, especially the Fine Arts and Atatürk Faculty of Education, aim to announce the importance of cultural heritage to their students and the environment.

The Institute of Turkish Studies, SKSDB Folk Dance Course Students, M.U. Folk Dance Club Groups and Guest Folk Dance Groups regularly organize Folk Dance Festivals.

Rare Artifacts
Before rare artifacts in our libraries were transferred to the digital environment, they were cleaned, classified, catalogued and duplicate copies were separated to prevent duplicate shots. Rare works that have not been catalogued until now or have only been offered to the user in card catalogues were designed to be scanned from a single interface within the scope of this study and to be opened to everyone's use unconditionally. Another element that makes our collection, which mainly consists of manuscripts and old-lettered Turkish printed books, valuable besides the book arts and the contents of the books are the notes and various records found on the books. The Digital Collection, which was created by shooting a total of 1,721,000 pages, including 1964 Manuscripts, 6,781 Old-lettered Printed Works, 581 Latin-lettered Rare Works, and 715 Volumes of Periodicals, has been opened to the service of all researchers free of charge, based on the principle of unhindered access to information.
