Financial Support for Students
Various scholarship opportunities are provided for students. You can find detailed information about the current scholarship opportunities available to our students on the page of the Health, Culture, and Sports Department under our Rectorate.
- To offer financial assistance and prepare students for their careers, a part-time work program is available. In this program, students can work in administrative and academic units for a maximum of 45 hours per month outside of their class hours, receiving a stipend equivalent to the hourly minimum wage.
- Accommodation Scholarship: Accommodation scholarships are provided to 110 students in need, allowing them to stay in the on-campus female dormitories, which have a capacity of 563 students.
- Meal Scholarship: 2,200 students benefit from meal scholarships daily. Applications are submitted online through our ESKS system.
- Each year, successful students in need are awarded scholarships from the Higher Education Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK), as determined by the university.
- Internet Support Scholarship: An Internet Support Scholarship will be provided to students for use in remote education during the spring semester. Students who wish to benefit from the Internet Support Scholarship can submit their applications through our application page until April 7, 2023.
In addition to these, students can also benefit from scholarships provided by various private organizations.
- Istanbul Chamber of Commerce: It is stated in the relevant documents that undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students will be provided with non-refundable scholarships by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce. Scholarship applications for the 2023-2024 academic year will be made online through the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce website between October 2-15, 2023.
- Vehbi Koç Foundation: The Vehbi Koç Foundation provides scholarship support to students of our Faculty. Scholarship applications can be made online through the website vkv.org.tr between September 18, 2023, and October 6, 2023.
- Nef Foundation: The Nef Foundation will provide scholarships to support students. Nef Foundation scholarship applications will be accepted between September 10-20, 2023.
- Turkish National Culture Foundation: The foundation provides non-refundable scholarships to undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students, especially those focusing on social sciences. Scholarship applications will be accepted between September 11-22, 2023.
- Turkish Education Foundation (TEV): TEV, which provides scholarships to successful and financially needy students of our University, will accept scholarship applications this year between September 4-24, 2023.
- Turkey Disabled Sports Assistance and Education Foundation: The foundation provides scholarships to students with disabilities pursuing associate, undergraduate, or postgraduate education, who are continuing their formal education and in need of financial support.
- ESPS Scholarship Project (EU Scholarships for Higher Education Students): Under the leadership and coordination of Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, scholarship applications for higher education students will start on September 20, 2023, as part of the EU project "EU Scholarships for Perspective Students (ESPS)" with the code "NDICI-GEO-NEAR/2022/440/790." Applications can be made through https://esps.hacibayram.edu.tr/. The scholarship program, supported by the European Union and in collaboration with Marmara Municipalities Union, the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) Turkey, Ankara University, and Hasan Kalyoncu University, will run from 2023-2026. It aims to support access to higher education, social cohesion, and professional life for Turkish citizens and those with temporary or international protection status continuing their education in Turkey. The Marmara Municipalities Union will coordinate scholarship applications for Istanbul and Bursa provinces, starting on September 20, 2023, through https://euburs.org.
- Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB): The IBB will provide educational support under the name "IBB Young University Student." Students pursuing associate, bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degrees, who reside in Istanbul or whose families reside there, and are in financial need can apply for this support between September 26, 2023, and November 3, 2023.
- Özdemir Bayraktar National Technology Scholarship Program: This program will provide scholarships of up to 3,000 TL to a total of 5,000 students at the undergraduate and graduate levels who are committed to contributing to the development of Turkey's national and local technology within the vision of the National Technology initiative.
Social Responsibility Activities
Marmara University successfully carries out the community service practices course in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and educates its students with a sense of social responsibility. In this context, it has emphasized the importance of social solidarity and cooperation by supporting families in need. Such activities are one of the important steps taken by Marmara University towards achieving the SDG goals and increase the social responsibility awareness of students and enable them to contribute to a sustainable future.
