Sustainable Procurement Disclosure
Marmara University recognizes sustainability as one of the fundamental elements of its
institutional development and is committed to reducing the environmental impacts associated with
its activities.
Within Marmara University’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, under the strategic objective of
“Increasing Societal Contribution and Supporting Sustainable Development,” the University has
established the target of “increasing the number of projects promoting environmental sustainability
by 100%.” In line with this target, the Strategic Plan identifies areas including energy efficiency,
zero-waste management, carbon footprint reduction, environmentally friendly transportation,
recycling, green space management, and sustainable campus practices.
As a public university, Marmara University conducts the procurement of goods and services and
construction works in accordance with applicable public procurement, public financial
management, and other relevant legislation. The University’s procurement processes are therefore
subject to the legal and financial framework governing Turkish public institutions.
Within this regulatory framework, Marmara University recognizes the relevance of environmental
sustainability considerations to procurement and supply processes. Where permitted by applicable
legislation and the requirements of individual procurement procedures, environmental
considerations may include resource and energy efficiency, waste reduction, the environmental
impacts associated with the use of goods and services, and consistency with the University’s
broader sustainable campus objectives.
This disclosure does not constitute a separate procurement policy. Rather, it sets out the
relationship between the environmental sustainability objectives established in Marmara
University’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan and the University’s procurement activities within the
applicable public procurement framework. Marmara University aims to progressively strengthen the consideration of environmental
sustainability within its administrative and operational processes, including procurement, in line
with developments in national public procurement legislation and sustainable public procurement
practices.
